What Are Fascias and Soffits?

Fascias are the vertical boards that run along the lower edge of your roof, directly behind the guttering. They support the bottom row of roof tiles and carry the weight of the gutter system.

Soffits are the horizontal boards that bridge the gap between the fascia and the wall of your property. They enclose the underside of the roof overhang and typically include ventilation to allow airflow into the roof space.

Traditional timber fascias and soffits require regular painting and maintenance. Modern uPVC alternatives are virtually maintenance-free, resistant to rot and weather damage, and available in a range of colours and finishes including woodgrain effects.
